*** ATTENTION PARENTS AND STEPPARENTS ***

NEGOTIATE WITH KNOWLEDGE

  • Are you faced with custody, visitation, child support, and/or stepparent issues?
  • Do you find it difficult, if not impossible, to co-parent with the other parent?

If your answer is "YES" to either or both questions, please review the books that are referenced on this website, attend Domestic and Co-Parenting Mediation Sessions, attend the Institute For Co-Parenting Resolution (CPR) Training, and seek professional advice from your attorney.

ARLINE S. KERMAN, J.D., Ph.D.

My experiences as a practicing Divorce and Custody Attorney for more than 30 years, a Domestic Mediator, Arbitrator, Case Evaluator/Domestic Relations, Guardian Ad Litem, and an Educational Psychologist have convinced me that all eyes are on the parents when they are deciding the most important issues involving child custody, visitation, and child support. Their decisions affect not only themselves, but their child as well.

Moreover, parents who strive to become successful and effective co-parents create a healthy and wholesome environment for everyone, especially for the child who depends on the love and support of BOTH parents.

This website offers some important information that you may want to review and discuss with your attorney as you consider your options.

HOW TO SURVIVE AND WIN AS A CO-PARENT (2008 Edition) contains important and useful information including questionnaires, cooperative strategies, The Kerman Parenting Plan, chapters on stepparenting, psychological issues, portions of the custody laws of the 50 states, a short story, Sally Rose: A Teenage Casualty Of A Custody Battle, and other important chapters.  The Parenting Plan on a CD is also included.  The book is for all parents who want to co-parent effectively and successfully, whether Single, Married, Separated, and Divorced.  The book is also used in the Institute for Co-Parenting Resolution (CPR) Training.

INSTITUTE FOR CO-PARENTING RESOLUTION (CPR) TRAINING

IN 2007,  ARLINE S. KERMAN, J.D., Ph.D. AND GUY W. JORDAN, Ph.D. FOUNDED THE INSTITUTE FOR CO-PARENTING RESOLUTION (CPR).  THE PURPOSE OF THE INSTITUTE IS TO EDUCATE PARENTS ABOUT THOSE PSYCHOLOGICAL AND LEGAL ISSUES THAT MAY ENHANCE THE PARENTS' ABILITY TO CO-PARENT SUCCESSFULLY AND EFFECTIVELY.   THE CPR TRAINING SESSION LASTS FIVE (5) HOURS AND IS CONVENIENTLY OFFERED AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS.  EACH REGISTERED PARTICIPANT WHO COMPLETES THE TRAINING WILL RECEIVE FROM THE INSTITUTE A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION.  PLEASE GO TO THE CO-PARENTING RESOLUTION SECTION OF THIS WEBSITE FOR FURTHER DETAILS.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Keeping families together, whole, and healthy is sometimes a serious challenge to a parents, and when there is a crisis, where can they turn? On “The Parents' Hour”, host Dr. Arline Kerman, has represented parents for over 30 years as a divorce and custody attorney, in addition to being a guardian ad litem, domestic mediator, case evaluator/domestic relations, arbitrator, author, and educational psychologist. She gives straightforward answers to the hard questions being asked by parents today who need help in properly parenting their children. Each week, Dr. Kerman provides a frank forum covering current topics like the crisis we have in education, problems with juvenile offenders, and guidelines for how parents can relate to each other so the child is not traumatized. Many parents are not aware of the resources out there in the community that can help them cope with the problems of child-rearing. Parents are also encouraged to consider using the materials on the shows, which are archived, as a basis for discussion with their children. Parents may also email their childrens' questions for the guests on upcoming shows. Three times a year, the show will feature "The Kids' Hour" with children age 14 and over who will discuss topics of interest to them, such as parenting, school, politics, drugs, etc. So tune in and get informed!
